I have had flat pack furniture last a very long time and survive several moves by simply adding glue when I assemble the furniture.
When i build my IKEA or other brand of flat pack furniture, I will add glue to all the dowels and a bead of glue along the edges where the furniture pieces come together. You may want to scuff up any laminated surfaces before you glue, but I do not. I normally use Gorilla Glue Wood Glue https://amzn.to/2qMzqlw but any quality glue will work.
