How to Cut Glass Tile

CUTTING GLASS TILE IS EASY IF YOU USE THE CORRECT TOOLS.

Simply put, all you need is a wet tile saw and a glass tile saw blade. I would not bother with nippers, unless you are only cutting a couple tiles and perfect cuts are not important. The glass blade is the most important part, if you use anything other than glass blade, you will destroy the tile and the blade. After you cut the glass, the edge will be blunt, so if you are using tile with rounded edges, you will need to plan your cuts to hide the sharp edges. You may also want to take the sharpness of the edge with a diamond hand polishing pad.

The saw in the video is a MK-101 and the blade used for cutting the glass tile is a QEP 7″ glass tile cutting diamond blade. You do not need such fancy tools like this MK Tile Saw, all you need is a simple wet tile saw.

MK Tile Saw like in the video is pretty spendy, around $1000! at Amazon but a cheaper option is a wet tile saw like this SKIL Wet Tile Saw for around $165 at Amazon

The blade is only around $15.. QEP Blade at Amazon

Q: CAN YOU SHARPEN AT GLASS CUTTING BLADE?

A: No, a glass cutting blade is not very “sharp” to begin with. The glass tile blade has a diamond coating that does all the hard work of cutting. You cannot sharpen a glass tile blade, if the blade’s diamond coating is gone, you will need to replace the blade.
