Replace Boxster Rear Trunk Lift Supports

Replacement of the rear trunk lid lift supports on a Porsche Boxster is very easy. The only tools needed are a small pick or flat blade screwdriver and a large flat blade screw driver.

To remove the old lift support you will need to pry the clip up that holds the lift supports sockets onto small balls on the truck lid and body, on both ends of the lift support.

To install the new lift support strut, simply snap the new strut onto the mounting balls.

While you are working on the lift supports, it is a good time to lubricate, with white lithium grease, all of the hinge points on the trunk lid and the trunk latch. This will extend the life of the latch and the connecting wire, which commonly fails because an unlubiracted latch requires more pulling force to open.
