When draining the oil on a Land Rover LR3, the oil likes to shoot out with enough force to coat your floor with a thick layer of oil. Don’t let this happen to you! When draining the oil, place a piece of cardboard as a backstop to arrest and deflect the oil on its way to your kitchen. The oil capacity of the LR3 4.4L V8 is 8 Quarts and the recommended oil is 5W-30. I drive 7,500 miles between oil changes.

It is recommended that you change out the drain plug at an oil change, this is to refresh the o-ring seal. I normally replace the drain plug every third oil change.

TOOLS NEED FOR AN LR3 OIL CHANGE:

10mm Socket
13mm Socket
17mm Socket
Ratchet (or Air Ratchet)
Suitable Oil Filter Wrench.
Oil Drain Pan

SUPPLIES NEED FOR THE LR3 OIL CHANGE:

8 Quarts of Synthetic 5-30 Oil
Oil Filter | Available at Amazon http://amzn.to/2d69Osy
New Drain Plug
Piece of Cardboard

The Oil Filter I have been using is the Purolator L15317. There is no particular reason i use this oil filter, other than it is close at hand and a fair price.
