Honda Element & CR-V Spark Plug Change with Tool List

Changing the spark plugs on a Honda CR-V or Honda Element is very easy and the same process for both vehicles.

The spark plugs are located on the top of the 2.4l engine and underneath a cover that is held on by 10mm nuts.

Each Plug has a coil pack and the coil packs are held down by 10mm screws.

After you have removed the coil pack you will be able to remove the spark plug with the 5/8 socket, and then pull them out of the engine using your spark plug socket.

When installing the spark plugs, be careful to not exert too much force, the torque spec is 13ft lbs, this is not much.

A spark plug on the Element or CR-V can cost as little as just under $3, like this one http://amzn.to/1VwaOnD

If you wanted to replace the Honda ignition coil packs while you are doing the plugs, a whole set costs just under $70 http://amzn.to/1RN0xwu

Honda Element Spark Plug Change Tool List:

  • 3/8 Drive Ratchet
  • 3/8 Ratchet Long Extension
  • 10mm Socket
  • 5/8 Socket
  • 5/8 Spark Plug Socket
